What is eSports?
eSports – or electronic sports – is the umbrella term for organised, competitive video gaming, usually between professionals.
Video game are serious business these days and eSports will become an official part of the Olympic Games by 2020. The International eSports Federation (IESF), has received a response from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) outlining the process and the next steps to allow eSports to be recognized as an Olympic sport.
Financial institutions are starting to take notice as Goldman Sachs valued eSports at $500 million in 2016 and expects the market will grow at 22% annually compounded over the net three years into a more than $1 billion industry.
